Lawrence Evan – May 29, 2017

Lawrance is a Director in the Financial Markets group at the Government Accountability Office, directing a body of work aimed at strengthening the safety, competiveness, efficiency and integrity of the U.S. financial system. Recent work completed under his leadership includes an assessment of the fintech industry, identity theft protection services and cyberattacks on banks. He has testified before Congress on a number of issues related to the conduct of large complex financial institutions and represents GAO on the INTOSAI Working Group on Anti-Corruption and Money Laundering. In his prior roles he served as a lead economist in GAO’s Applied Research and Methods and taught courses at various institutions on money and banking, financial crises and econometrics. Lawrance received his PhD in Economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and his BA from Colgate University.
